Natalia’s New Year Picks 2022

Selected by Natalia de la Ossa

Incredibly excited to start the year with a new Shaun Tan – I have loved his work since I encountered The Arrival in 2014. I am reading The Sentence by Louise Erdrich at the moment, which is an absolute joy – full of descriptions of an indie bookshop and the travails of its booksellers as the ghost of a customer keeps visiting the bookshop. As a huge fan of Toni Morrison, I am looking forward to Recitatif, a short novel that has been described as “a masterful exploration of what keeps us together and what keeps us apart, of race and the relationships that shape our lives.” Together with these three titles are some other books I will be buying to keep me reading while I wait for Spring.
