Natalia’s Spring Picks 2023

Selected by Natalia de la Ossa

I am absolutely thrilled by the selection of new titles coming out this spring: I particularly can’t wait to immerse myself in Deborah Levy’s new novel, August Blue. I have also been waiting for Tan Twang Eng to publish another book: The Garden of Evening Mists was a real treat when I read it five years ago, and his new title The House of Doors is another joy to read.

Japanese crime has become a staple in my reading lists, and the forthcoming title by Seishi Yokomizo (tr. Jim Rion) promises to be another intricate investigation by detective Kindaichi; it is a prefect pairing with another classic of Japanese crime fiction, Tokyo Express by Seicho Matsumoto (tr. Jesse Kirkwood).
