It’s like asking someone to pick their favourite child! How am I supposed to choose my favourite from these, my books of the year? They’re all coming from different directions and have different shapes and flavours, but I think, for the pure dreamy intensity, I responded most strongly to Mrs S by K Patrick, an incredible debut novel where you can definitely feel the poet’s hand in the prose.
