Although this event was cancelled due to the Covid-19 crisis, we’re delighted to be able to bring you this podcast with novelist, essayist, memoirist and book and film reviewer Adam Mars-Jones and poet Richard Scott, to celebrate Mars-Jones’s latest book Box Hill (Fitzcarraldo).
On his eighteenth birthday Colin, taking a walk on the eponymous Surrey hillside, stumbles across Ray, part of the biker community centred on Box Hill. Mars-Jones recounts the love story between the two men in his continuing exploration of the dynamics of desire and domination. ‘It is’ writes Margaret Drabble, ‘a characteristic Mars-Jones mixture of the shocking, the endearing, the funny and the sad, with an unforgettable narrator.’
