Magda’s Boy: How George Szirtes invented his mother

George Szirtes’ mother, Magda, was a Hungarian photographer who survived two concentration camps and escaped Budapest with her family in 1956 for England. In this film, Anthony Wilks spends time with Szirtes to find out more about his mother’s remarkable story, and how he was put that story into words in much of his poetry and, most recently, a memoir, The Photographer at Sixteen.
