From the publisher
Inspired by the curiosity and imagination of a thirteen-year-old who loved writing, the annual Martha Mills Young Writers' Prize gives young people a chance to explore new themes in their writing and to get their work published. The prize, established by the London Review Bookshop, is open to anyone between the ages of eleven and fourteen living in the UK.
The theme for this first year of the prize was ‘The Stranger’. The stories in the collection were shortlisted for inclusion by the judges, Merope Mills and Paul Laity (Martha’s parents), Gayle Lazda from the London Review Bookshop and the writer Katherine Rundell.
